Follow the blue text for a link to a really good Cranberry Pear Pie – perfect for the holidays.

We follow the recipe from Sally Fallon Morell’s excellent cookbook, Nourishing Traditions, using arrowroot powder instead of cornstarch.  I didn’t use a gluten free crust, but the same principle applies as to the cookie cutter shapes on top.

  1. We have Nourishing Traditions, but don’t use it much (being vegetarians). However, my husband actually just used it this weekend to make yogurt. We followed the recipe in Taproot magazine, but ours wasn’t thickening using their recipe, so he referred to Sally – the queen of fermenting! – and following her advice added more culture and it worked!
