week 20

we completed the main season of our csa this past saturday and golly do we feel great.

csa

there are about as many csa structures as there are csa farms. our’s is divided into a 20 week main season and an optional 8-10 week fall extension. when we designed our csa 16 years ago, we felt this offered us and our shareholders some flexibility. if you don’t love greens, now is a good time to stop receiving our weekly baskets.

farewell tomatoes, peppers, eggplant. welcome kale and chard!

farewell tomatoes, peppers, eggplant. welcome kale and chard!

now, this sunny breezy september sunday, i feel more than ever the benefits. we are celebrating, we have upheld our commitment and we can take a deep breath.

i know,  we will actually do the very same thing next saturday. there are some differences though:  we have fewer shareholders during the fall extension, the farm work load is lightened, and now, truly, with the end of our main season, summer is OVER!

to honor this day and every csa farmer and csa shareholder out there i pause, send you all a huge hoorah, and pick up my knitting.
